2025 Full Year Stock Tipping Competiton

To all those waiting to see the results for 2025 comp I hate to dissapoint but I have been plonked into hospital and got my prostate removed.
Not sure when I am home but it probably won’t be till Sunday at best, but most likely later.
Will get em out when I get back to the puter.

Get better soon Mick. The quality of posts has been downright dreadful recently. I only found out you were in hospital just now. That explains it all. Health comes first.

@divs4ever, I couldn't figure out why you picked VAS for the competition under the new rules.

A good portion of the total return for an ASX300 tracking ETF is going to be dividends. Still, my picks might all be duds and you might end up looking pretty good with VAS.
well Buffet and Bogle both say that 'tracking the index is superior to picking/timing stocks for most investors , i thought i would lob in VAS and test how it went in 2025

also my logic in the four selections was our stock market might get caught up in a 'melt-up' , and i also went rather high in the 2025 XAO prediction comp. on the same bet , should i be completely wrong and the market crashes ... i will too busy stock-picking to shed a tear ( of joy or grief )

Take it easy Mick, the comp can wait. All the best. And my picks should be up to date

Awwww... what's up with physios @farmerge ? Found them invaluable personally. Life-changing actually.
Good for you in that you were happy with the physios that helped you.
When I was recently in hospital the first physio was good at blowing her trumpet about how good she was as a sports physio.
Just great for a heart patient.
Took no notice of what I had wrong with my left shoulder a left over ailment from the bull attack 5 years ago.
The surgeon I had caught her out trying to push me on the 2nd day out of ICU. Never saw her again.
The next was really good as she listened and didn't push and I achieved a lot with her.
I made contact with her a couple of weeks after being released and had a good lengthy conversation with her about my progress, and she couldn't have been happier.
The third was just recently at the Midland Hospital.
I did everything he asked and his response at the end of each session, well done.
When we were sitting in his work area then came out with "well you could have done a lot better".
The first exercise was to walk at my usual speed over a 25 metre distance. How many laps in 6 minutes I did 12.
The next was getting up from a chair without using my arms to push with. How many in 30 seconds once again I managed 12.

was that the physios fault or the Doctor's briefing/notes ?

i note some Doctors have very little interest in patient health history ( only about current stuff that might get them sued )

those sort of doctors forget simple things like the thigh bone is connected to the knee-bone ....

no my last physio was hopeless because he was working on a tiny scrap of information trying correct a minor movement impediment ... not understanding there are 20 plus injuries that the doctor hasn't discovered yet after treating me for over nine years , ( and some other issues that have since developed ... extremely keen to promote vaccines through despite being hospitalized with Covid 3 times in last two years ( and he is several years younger than me )

they tried a stress MRI on me ( the stress was supposed to be an 8 minute walk on a treadmill ) by the time the technician put on all the EKG leads the printout was so scary , i was ordered to sit on the bed and 'waggle your legs ' and hit with a shot of adenosine , three minutes later i am unplugged and shuffled off to the next MRI .. in a wheelchair ! .. and was pushed around in the wheelchair for the rest of the day

... needless to say they stopped giving me MRIs after that ( on my heart ) the next on was on a shoulder ( when the complaint was about severe cramping in the right wrist !!! ) ( that was a different epic adventure )

and folks wonder why i do my own self-medication ( with totally legal substances )

Western medicine seems to have devolved into pills , jabs and fancy machines

get well soon

No that first physio wouldn't listen to what injuries I may still have. More concerned about how good she was and would have me up and running in no time.
The heart surgeon knew of my past altercation with the bull and the injuries that are still relevant, that's why he, I assume got another physio to work with me, not against me.

Slight error in post #351 should be 50 metres a lap for 6 minutes.

Wow just hit midnight, time to say goodnight.

Wow, sounds like you've both been on epic medical episodes as well too @farmerge and @divs4ever - sounds like we all need to catch up over a beer some time along with @mullokintyre ! One thing is for sure, the real key is finding a great team that understands you and your needs - must admit that I've been blessed in that regard and I'm eternally grateful for that. Don't give up until you find them - it's definitely worth it.

yeah but @farmerge sounds like he is doing much better , but have been sick all my life , but the upside is i had to become more resourceful , and not relying on brute force ( or being a pretty face )

i resorted many years back to dabbling in natural medicine , and figuring out what works for me , when applied to the stock market that independent searching can work as well ,

i won't find that great team because it seems no-one can track my medical history before 1990 , so they are not only flying blind , they are flying without a basic knowledge of aerodynamics

For me the 2 surgeons were top of the wozza blokes.
In my opinion and that of the nursing staff at St Johns they were the top of the tree surgeons here in WA.
This I have no doubt but to be true.
On their daily rounds when seeing me, there was no rush to be in and out.
Sit down and were asking questions and making sure that I was travelling as I should be.
Left me feeling that I was in very competent hands and care.

The medical people, the surgeons and nurses were top shelf.
Never really been rapped with Physios.
The ones I have dealt with over the past 5 years are good at talking, taking notes and 5=10 minutes of actual hands on.
Not a bad time frame for $80 odd a pop

i was only in overnight for the stent , booted out after a couple of hours after the first angioplasty ( stent implant ) went astray including loading me up with different meds ( when i was promoted to 'urgent ' )

usually i roll up for whatever tests, procedures and out before 5pm ,

but the one that actually inserted the stent was a professor of medicine ( about no. three or four in a Hospital focused on heart/lung illnesses ) ( but there is a private hospital across the car park so i suppose they share senior medical staff )
