Thought I would start a diary of what I have been up to.

This is my "speculation" account for want of a better description and very different from my long term playing it safe investing.

Goal is to try and find alpha in the smaller end of town, looking for that 100 bagger :), not saying some of these may end up in my boring portfolio in time.

Catalyst are also varied, due diligence is a combination of fundamental analysis, technical indicators and some times just vibes.

First stock bought was 30th January this year.

Isn't GOR being taken over ? Willl you get more on market. The t/o has been on and off. Where is it at now?

I've got some CAY . Speculative it is, but if it wings it it will go north majorally ( is that a Trump word ). I decided to try my luck in the Cameroon district of Juju country where @Sean K normally resides about.

It's a good spread of speccies @countrylad .

Yes GOR is being taken over GG not due to go through until September, I have the sell placed at a point that I am happy if it gets taken (probably unrealistic), if not will wait for the pay out.

CAY as far as a speccie has got a lot of good news stories about it, if this plays out yes it will be a very good outcome for anyone invested.

Yes it is a good range however, I think BOE and DVP are starting to leave that speccie area of the ASX, and turn into hopefully some good compounders that print cash and look after their shareholders appropriately.

All this or course in my opinion only and never intended as financial advise.

Arrow put into a trading halt today, bit going on in Guinea at the moment, part of the risk appetite you have to be able to swallow when your investing in this part of the market

"Guinea has revoked the licences of 46 mining companies operating in the country, a government source told Reuters on Thursday, while another said it could be up to 53 permits, in what some analysts see as a warning shot to larger operators in the world’s second-largest bauxite producer.

The move comes amid growing resource nationalism in the military-ruled country and across Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, where authorities have tightened control over their vast mineral wealth since military coups in 2020."

@finicky thanks mate read all the news reports over the weekend. I am optimistically (and very foolishly) hoping they are delivering the scoping study a month early lol

End of week update ,

DVP just keeps ticking the check box, have I told you how much I like Bill
Took my GOR funds and put them into BUS
BOE getting into the buy zone
Want to add to TEE, POL, GUE and SGQ over the coming weeks.

I'm in to CAY. Let us hope nobody tries to take the reins of power off the present mercantiles. It all looks too good to be true. It is going well, no fanaticism, just regular little positive reports which make sense for a Bauxite and possible RE outfit in Africa.

That is a nice list @countrylad , thanks.

@peter2 I am flattered that you think I have a trading style lol, this is new for me, and I am very much enjoying the ride.

What I have learnt most is that management is just as important if not more so than the quality of the asset. However, when you have a great asset and great management you have the holy grail.

yes that is nice if you can get quality information

i have learned the hard way to avoid 'rockstar ' management and new recruits ( higher profile than you would expect from a similar company )

i have noticed such folks come with excessive salary packages ( and many do NOT produce positive results )

but obviously you are a quick learner , don't forget to take SOME profit when sensible

because that Buffet quote find a business so well run the even an idiot can run it ( because eventually one will ) is uncomfortably true , more often than i would like it to be ( look at WOW post the Corbett era )

( i hold WOW after selling more than 95% of a relatively large holding for me )
