Not to be confused with
Generating Alpha

Gen Alpha is the next generation of workers, currently around 16, who are coming into the workforce, following Gen Z, Gen Y, Gen X and baby boomers.

Australian companies need to be ready to handle five generations of workers as more baby boomers stay in the workforce, while the new technologically savvy, socially conscious generation alpha are starting their first jobs, says a HR guy.

There is a new cohort coming into the workplace – generation alpha – who have a degree of digital fluency which is greater than all four of the other generations before them combined,” he said.

These kids are way before their time.
They are so quick to press buttons, scroll and swipe that when a device can't keep up due to system constraints, they blame it for glitching.
They really need quantum computing to catch up with them.

and, not that these things are delineated so precisely, evidently the first of Gen Beta was born today, 01 Jan 2025. Most of them should see the 22nd Century

I have 2 gen z and 2 gen alpha.
The gen alpha around 8-9. They are so far ahead on a capacity to understand concepts and high in emotional intelligence it's hard to believe they are so young.

I actually worry that childhood has really diminished to a window that is too brief. Gen Z seems low on dedicated. Gen A has extremely short attention spans. Social media has really shaped them.

These next few generations are cooked
Absolutely, unfortunately the penny hasn't dropped the media and the Government are telling them they are special, while they undermine their future.
Best of luck to the kids, if they can't see the way things are going, they really deserve what they get unfortunately.
They certainly are aware of all the facts these days, so they can't say they aren't informed.

while the new technologically savvy, socially conscious generation alpha
I'm unconvinced how tech savvy they truly are.

Not a criticism, just an observation.

They can use an app on a smartphone or tablet yes.

Now confront them with a desktop PC running standard Office applications and see what happens.

Or give them said PC in separate boxes for monitor, computer, keyboard, mouse, printer etc and a box full of cables and leave them to set it up and get it working.

Or give them any mechanical or electrical device, anything from a mower to audio equipment, that's not working and ask them to get it going.

There will be exceptions as with everything but my observation is those born prior to ~1985 are a lot more comfortable with having cables running everywhere and having to themselves be the interface between incompatible devices or having to fix something that's not working.

Anyone over a certain age who's been around technical things their entire life knows it well. Watch this monitor, one hand on this device, other hand on something else, watch the clock and remember you've got to press all these other buttons as well, in the correct sequence, and do it all as fast as possible once you see whatever you're looking for on the screen or hear the magic words. Because you're the control system making this work, the machines themselves don't communicate with each other so you're the interface and whatever you do don't stuff it up even slightly.

A common element to everything from road traffic control to live entertainment in the past and usually done while sweating in a stifling hot control room because of heat coming from all the equipment.

This is all true. Technically they are stuffed. They can navigate it well enough though.
