It looks like by the time I'm in the market for my next ute (2-3 years), I will have to opt for a horse and cart.

It would actually be an interesting exercise to calculate the CO2 per kilometer of such a vehicle, considering the agricultural emissions of producing a draft horse where it might be useful (in keeping a breeding stallion, broodmare and raising the foal for approximately three to four years), the methane emissions both during and after life etc. Plus emissions in producing the feed necessary to keep a working horse.

One must also consider the emissions in blitzing out a set of four shoes in 32 by 12 every 3 weeks or so.... And then there is the cost to the health system in cortisone injections in my elbow....

Only requires a little bit of elbow grease and she'll be fine. Price negotiable.

@wayneL Thanks for the thread and the beginning post. I believe you are correct re ICE v Horse.
Toyota and Nissan are now waking up to that very fact and have stopped breeding horses and are going all in on ICE.

@Belli That is one mean ute. Any idea where the engine block, tyres, windows and entire right side from the door back used be. Does it come in any other colours?

Yes, definitely a showroom special. Those bits and pieces are about 150 yards back. When you connect with a speed bump at 150 mph things happen. You can have it in any colour you like @Garpal Gumnut as long as it's rust.

Mentioned this you beaut ute to my son in the Pilbara a short while ago. Thought he might be interested in a restoration job. but reckons there are plenty of such lurking around the Pilbara.

And here I was expecting pages upon pages of ocker outrage that our sacred chariots are under threat
