Part of my thinking is that the previous world order coming to an end has been inevitable as it just wasn't sustainable.Ever increasing debt, eroding technical competence and a shifting military balance. It was always going to blow up someday. I'd have a very different view if I thought the previous situation was sustainable. That being so, the US walking away is a relatively benign exit. It beats waiting for collapse or having a major war as tends to more commonly mark the end of an empire.Globalisation would never have been anywhere near such a big thing if it wasn't a socially acceptable (in the West) means of exploitation. If it wasn't for that then it wouldn't be a problem - we'd have a wider range of goods available, we'd have some cultural and practical things from other countries, but it wouldn't have been such a one sided deal. It would've been sustainable if it'd been done that way.
