The dividends are part of the retirement income which allows me to do things like currently sitting on the balcony of the Sea Princes in Akaroa looking at the surrounding hills in sunshine and mid 20's drinking a nice red wine. That is why I said for the very long term in the post.Mind you I often have to resist the temptation to sell a few everh time the price drops simply because of the profit.
