Melbourne Cup 2005

Re: Melbourne Cup

Hopefully the diva can get up for sentimentality sakes. it would be a fairy tale. But one horse that i reckon everyone has forgotten about is Xcellent. Has only failed when on slow to heavy tracks, and if the vrc dont monsoon the track before tommorrow, the track should be perfect for it. paying $26 well over the odds in my opinion. oh, but go the diva. what a horse. if it wins tommorow...........................

Agree.

Re: Melbourne Cup

Well done Tech and everyone else.

Just out of interest, what did your trifecta pay, assuming you got it?

Re: Melbourne Cup

hey fleeta - ive owned a couple nags in my time - no real success - only 2 winner photos - is a very costly exercise these days, i think due to wannabes and also the rebates and such the clubs give out to starters - the trainers, vets and all the service providers just take it and more back. if ya want a thing to own & follow, try the trots or dogs - costs are a lot less, and percentage wise the prizemoney is favourable.

got the cox plate tri, but thats the only success ive had this spring.

Re: Melbourne Cup

In SA it payed about $4900 I think as I havent picked it up yet---didnt want to carry it around.

In the 9 selections all place getters in the Pick4 were there, but I didnt take it.---would have been around $1300---payed $48,000.

What an amazing horse with both the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup fantastic runs.

Thats it for another year--even a mug punter can have a win.

TF 1*16* 8 7415.80

Was a nice suprise.

Evidently a girl here took 1,16,8 straight and 5 units first bet in her life.
Picked up $37,000.
1 because everyone was talking up the Diva.
16 cause someone in the office said it was a good chance.
8 cause xcellent would be the result if they came in.

Re: Melbourne Cup

What a horse, I had two bets yesterday, $100 on the nose on the Diva and then had $50 place on Winning Target at Ascot when I went to collect my winnings he he that paid $2.80 a place, A bit like the market blue chips and specs this horse racing. Think I will stick to shares, at least if you lose most times you get something back.
