Turnbull would always have been more at home in Labor.. nothing remotely like Menzies.

But far closer to previous Liberal leaders than the current one.

At least he seemed to have some ideas and be playing the ball rather than this whole image-driven politics of nothingness we have today.

In those days, the ALP was not the party for inner the city woke or corporate interests. Like the Liberal Party, they have foresaken their base constituency.

I'm sure a lot want a job. But I grew up in an area that was high unemployment and those guys are still on the dole to this day (30+ years). Some people don't want to work or join the system for multiple reasons.

Unfortunately if it just because the person is bone idle, you can't say it, even if it is one of your kids.

Job opportunities are rapidly declining due to automation , foreign outsourcing and lack of a "we can do it" mentality in this country.

But also we are becoming spoiled by technology and kids these days are reluctant to go into "get your hands dirty" jobs like mechanics, plumbers, sparkies etc.

The nations mindset needs to change from a "someone else can make it" mindset and move towards a more nationalistic approach.

Competitors who regard trade as a weapon are a threat and unless something changes fast we are vulnerable.

I'm not sure how that policy will work. Many people won't move for work, others don't want to work.

Currently young people are being snapped up. It's the 35yo plus that struggles finding work.
So long as borders remain shut to overseas workers, there are plenty of job opportunities.

That has been the whole problem since Howard lost office, politics has become media driven.
It is now more about how a leader presents on the idiot box, than the policies they are presenting, hopefully people become more discerning when they have to pay for their media content.

To underline the extent of the issue, one has to look no further than this forum, the media is full of chook fodder for the plebs to copy and paste, imagine if Howard was in office now with his looks, lisp and lack of charisma, he would be hammered.
Fortunately he was around in the infancy of social media, so it wasn't an issue for him.
Nowadays the most important asset a leader has to have is being able to deal with the media, that is why Julie Bishop never made it IMO, the media could tie her up in knots.
Not so Scomo the commentators have trouble handling him, so they use plan B which is give the chooks fodder to copy and paste on social media.
The effectiveness will be tested at the next election, I said a while back that IMO they have gone over the top, blaming Morrison for anything and everything that happens whether it is his area of responsibility or not, I think most people have become tone deaf to it.
No one is debating policies and or core issue i.e the economy, they are just posting up memes, which actually shows an obvious bias, therefore no one takes the point trying to be made seriously.
So all it does is add to the polarisation, which is what Labor don't want, they want to be pushing Albos positives, rather than using attempted humour to denigrate Morrison, I think that just won't swing enough votes.
Just my opinion, but very interesting times.

And i'll contest that without $70 odd million from Palmer, the country would not be dealing with him now...

It wasn't anything to do with Palmer, it was Shorten and Bowen's, brain farts that let off a blue flash and took them out of the ball park.
The last election was Labors to lose and they did a great job of it, pandering to the industry super funds and the Sydney/Melbourne elites, just completely losing their moral compass.
Sad really, at least Albo seems to be getting them back into the ball park.

Albo, *could* kick in some match winning points, but seems to be relying on the woke activists to do a number on Scomo (and probably thoroughly deserved tbh).

Dammit, if he put the shackles on Wong and Plibbggcddgc et al, and started playing to their traditional constituency, it's possible I would vote Labor for the first time in my life.

Does it really matter, the pollies are in there for the trough, the rest is pantomime.
The media are the reviewers, who give their personal view of the show, which is purely subjective and the public lap up the reviews of their favourite reviewers.
Life goes on. ?

Listen to your Mam, I was born in Whitby, came here as an 8 year old.
There is a lot of wisdom passed on, in old sayings, if people are prepared to listen.
That wisdom is rapidly disappearing, as the young turn to the media and social media, for their wisdom.
The reality is, those who they are listening to on the morning show, may well have less life experience and knowledge than the listener, but because of conditioning the listener takes what the presenter has to say as being worth more than their own judgement.
IMO it is causing a lot of the discontent and stress that young people are experiencing ATM, be it social, financial or health.
