Vaccines

So the first and current one is ok, thanks, the second option..well unless your kids want an early lottery win....
Not sure i am old enough for a free/reasonable priced one.
Will check
It's $600 if you are too young. Yea, I'll wait. Got to be 65.

My understanding is that shingles is a re-flaring of the chicken pox virus.
We oldies never had chicken pox vaccines, we got the full illness front attack by viruses ..chickenpox measles etc ruvella
Then our bodies fought back and got immunity then thru our T cells etc but viruses kind of stay hidden in lymphatic systems
Then under stress whatever they resurface and give you shingles. Not to mention other nasties we may not be even aware now.
Now my theory:
Before vaccine against chickenpox were widespread, all self immunis people, adults were exposed years after years to the life virus and reinforcing their T cells memory at the wost a bit of fever one day but that's it
That exposure is no more in the west, or at least here and we oldies do not update our immunity anymore yet as opposed to vaccinated younger people, we carry our own load of virus hidden to death .
And when a glare happens, we are actually much weaker than a generation ago.
I would dare to suggest that along that hypothesis, we , naturally immunised oldies, are at a now much greater risk of shingles than previous generation unless we travel to Indian or Africa yearly.

An obvious query:
How on hell could a vaccine against chickenpox..as this is what shingles is, be billed $600?
Just because it is for oldies and they, bloody boomers, or the ATO 馃槉, can afford?

Note added, for shingles/chicken pox, viruse stays hidden in nerves, not lymphatic system.
Does not change the fundamentals

Paying US prices is my guess.

People are living longer is my guess and people whinged less if they had it.

We are softer in that we complain more.

By the way, another unvaccinated child died in Texas from measles.

You should know better with me cf vaccine, i am not antivax, i just do not consider mRNA as worthy of being called vaccines and would definitely call them pure poison now
I have had most vaccines on the market heps, rabbies, etc i do not even know the list eo looking at the booklet due to travel.
But
It would be interesting knowing how many people died of measles in my generation 1970s.
We had the lot: rubella, chickeypox, measles coughing etc naturally
Never been a big deal, my mother was managing a kindergarten so we knew and caught every wave.never heard or know of a single serious effect among children of that school in the 20 or so years
Polio, tuberculosis, smallpox did ravages but not these so the reason noone was vaccinated in the 70/80s
Decisions then were very practical and not money lobbies based.
So how many severe effect did we have then vs vaccine side effects?
That is what should be considered, and only.
The second issue nowadays is that if you are not exposed to these viruses in early years, and you do not get vaccinated then you will catch these at a later year and with body which is not prime anymore, so the hit will be much worse.
In the first 5y of life in the 70s, a kid immunity was like a Panzer, you were sick monthly from whatever wave of viruses was cruising around, flu, colds, rosela, chickenpox, measle and so many i do not know the english name for 馃槀
Now
If one kid died in texas from measles, it is nearly a given one died from a real vaccine somewhere else..
You know this is true
We just need a math approach
Benefits vs dangers and it is never never a 0 to 1.
and definitively not one news item whose only purpose is to attack a Kennedy health minister who dares not to be with the pharma lobby, cleans the mess in US health..or non health, and suggests that American overeating crap is more dangerous than measle ...how dares he馃槉

You get other things from measles, heart damage for instance that you have to live with your whole life like my grandmother had.

Why would you bring back measles? Whole thing is fckin dumb.

Where did i say bring back measle?
Or did Kennedy say bring back measle?
I just say look at unbiased data, do the plus vs minus
You do that yourself, you do not want the shingles jabs for a measly $600 yet that could save you from death or neural disease?
So you do maths too
And btw, measles is not gone, and 600,000 migrants a year plus travellers make sure it is still around us.
While Australian are all anti Trump raving, do you know we had trouble to get tuberculosis vaccine for our son in Australia, and i doubt this has changed!
We were told that in Australia, it was reserved to our "first nation, torres strait" because we had no more risk.
And it can be treated via antibiotics .....that is the Australian medical approach..thanks, talk about side effect there
Took us a month to get it provided via different appointments and really a fight
we were successful..
At the time, and less than 3 months post our son vaccination, an Indian or Bangladeshi, not sure, was found dead on the gold coast...from tuberculosis.
So numbers, not emotions.and please not politically biased
Australia is still giving mRNA covid Pfizer jabs in 2025...

Ultimately
will wait 65 for a $600 jab set , probably worth $30 .
Knowing that a side consequences of chicken pox vaccines generalisation will be a most probably higher risk for the oldies we are of shingles.. until our generation dies, then shingles will disappear.馃憤
We have to take one for mankind here

Thanks

basically, it's borne out in longevity tables.

People died of these things, younger. Survivor bias is great for those that survive

An anti-vaccine advocate, Mr Kennedy has resisted urging widespread vaccinations as the measles outbreak has worsened under his watch.

On Sunday, however, he said in a lengthy statement posted on X that it was 鈥渢he most effective way to prevent the spread of measles".

I am no expert but the initial cost is high for new drugs as the company recovers R&D costs. One the patent expires, generics tend to fill the space. Could be wrong but I that's how it generally works.

Yes and no much research is conducted though universities the US is riven by over charging and high cost for healthcare it鈥檚 often a business with little to no competition hence Yanks often go to Canada for drugs and healthcare if they can.

Is Kennedy anti vaccine, or antii covid vaccine, or anti MRNA vaccine?

Or all of the above?
If you read the article he was telling everyone to take Vitamin B but now he has two dead kids on his watch and had to face reality.

New drug for a chickenpox vaccine?
Efficiency 51% but lessen symptoms
