Movies

might help explain the decrease in natural population growth in Australia , but we needed more tax slaves anyway ( according to the politicians )
In my untamed late teens at the drive-ins saw some pretty funny and at times distressed damsals doing their best to get re-clothed.
Ah they were the days.
No need to visit a strip club then, it was always on show when the lights came on, very powerul ones at that.
The one thing that did annoy us was the car arial sticking up so as to put a line on the screen.

Breaking away from how this thred started.
I recently saw The Green Book on TV.
We did see at the flicks a few years ago.
For us was an excellent film based on fact, some a bit wobbly perhaps, but a very powerful film, with some very good humour and how the Deep South of US looked upon a very talented black American.
For me worth watching a few times more.

Definitively

What do you think of the movie, frog? It didn't paint Napoleon in a very good manner and they missed all the good he did for France. Seemed to be an anti-France movie to me. Not a well balanced approach at all. And, at almost 3 hrs, Scott had time to say something nice. There were some good cheese and wine scenes but that's about all. And all the French characters had British and American accents too. Was frustrating on many levels.

Did not watch it, not really interested
As I see him based on teachings, books, artifacts
Napoleon , as Hitler, and soon now Biden , lost thinking he could conquer Russia. But otherwise:
Was a great mind, united the whole Europe in a single entity, bigger than current EU
french soldiers were a minority in his army slaughtered by the brits
He created a fair unified and trans European legal system, institutions, free educational systems based on skills and not birth or money Inc elite ones, lessen the power of the catholic church and gave a final kill to many european royal families; left a police (gendarmerie) to handle rural policing still in place nowadays not only in France but in Austria, Belgian , Netherland.
He was an engineer and science focused leader...and brought enlightenment to Europe ...
Obviously not all fairy floss and lollypop . A dictator, megalomaniac ...
but left as legacy agricultural, industrial, science research institutes , even an Egyptian incursion just for science purpose..and because he could.
in short a progressive leader ..not progressive like US democrats LOL
his legacy was felt for centuries, and is still valid, but he was obviously opposed by the royalty and privileged class (aka UK kingdom).

With the van facing the wrong way. naughty times. I guess that is why the lights were turned on so quickly when the film finished. Didn't leave much time to get decent.
That reminded me of the times the drive-in manager/attendant would walk around with torch in hand, chastising noisy patrons or helping with speaker issues. They must have seen a pretty sight or two in their time, well unless the windows were fogged up, lol!

Speaking of speakers, in later years that subpar speaker hanging off the window could be supplanted by using the car radio for the audio signal.

Saw a few windown speakers dangling when the car was been driven out. Moron forgot to take it off the window.
