NAB online trading down

I'm switching to E*Trade too!

In fact, I'm ditching the National Bank completely, here are some reasons:

1) Incompetent staff - eg can't speak english, don't understand basic bank operations, get their manager every time I do a large transfer to ask me WHY I'm doing it

2) Always trying to sell me **** I don't want

3) Didn't know what a bank guarantee was, then when they found out wanted to charge me 4%pa for it and THEN send me a business loan application instead.

4) Staff didn't know how to wire money overseas

5) I get charged fees to transfer money between my own accounts on Netbank

6) Their software doesn't support anything but IE on Windows, neither of which I use.

One or two of these I could tolerate, but I've done a few things with St George lately and the contrast is amazing, National is about to lose ALL of my accounts!

I use it with Firefox without problem - at least without problem specifically related to browser type.

Not sure who to change to now. I'm mostly happy with HSBC, but I'd prefer not to have two entities both using the same online broker. May end up being the best way to go though.

GP I can use NetBank and Online Trading in firefox but not "Trader Pro" and their Netbank crashes my browser all the time. I am on Linux / FreeBSD though (I use both)

I can't use WebIress on HSBC with Firefox either - at least not last time I tried. Can only get it to work with IE.

not sure if this helps but I can use Morrisonsecurities free webiress via Firefox, no problems. GP, Comsec is not bad at all overall, does stuff up but not as bad as NAB from what you've said.

NAB online trading out again

:banghead:

I cannot access online Banking or online Trading. Nice timing NAB! And I have been on hold for 20 minutes.

I just tried to log on and got the following:

"Thank you for your interest in NAB OnLine Trading. Our website is temporarily offline due to scheduled maintenance.

Access will be available again from 21:00 AEDT on May 12th 2007.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you."

At least its not down at a time i need to place an order...

I hate the way NAB says 'thankyou for your interest!'. You arent interested in NAB trading as such, you want to get to your portfolio!

A couple of years ago our office was right next door to a NAB. The next most closest NAB was about 10 minutes away, but in a place where it is extremely difficult to get a park, and it kind of shared a space with a Caltex service station, so very busy!

So then we get a letter saying "we are closing the Branch (next to our office) for our convenience we can bank at.... (the branch about 10 minutes away)

:banghead: FOR OUR BLOODY CONVENIENCE! That Bank was always there and we hated going there!

So i went scootling into the Branch before it closed and told them what I thought of NAB, and how INCONVENIENT it was. To which the nasty little teller replied 'well, you can always park in the Service Station, no-one will ever know'. When he said this, there was a queue of people behind me, I didnt have to say a word but needless to say by the time the rest of the customers had finished with him, he didnt have his smarmy grin on anymore!

The same smarmy teller was in another incident. I went into the (old) Branch one day and there was no-one behind the counter, but we could see them moving around behind the screens. The queue got longer and longer, maybe about 5 minutes of waiting and still no sign of a teller. Finally, this jerk came to the counter and said 'Is anyone waiting'. The guy behind me totally lost it! And that teller will never ask that question again. He has probably been promoted now to head of customer service!

To make matters worse, NAB developed the closed Branch into a NAB Business centre; and they did not want to know anything about banking issues. People would have trouble with the ATM outside, and go into the office to discuss it. Despite NAB being plastered all over the walls, on the counters etc etc; the receptionist would say it wasnt her problem and go and ring the number on the ATM.

How did NAB win Bank of the Year last year for customer service:mad:

Gee and I thought I had trouble with CBA, they actually look professional compared to those stories, just don't tell CBA I said that.

Absolutely pathetic.

At work we have a fairly simple policy. If someone makes contact either in person or on the phone then we either fix whatever the problem is or answer the question there and then or, if they need to be speaking to someone in another area, take their details and make sure WE call THEM to discuss the matter.

Even if it has absolutely nothing to do with the organisation, we try to provide contact details of who they need to speak to or, where practical, take the message and pass it on. None of this is difficult or expensive and it's good PR. :2twocents

NAB online trading

Just crashed on me in the middle of a trade, I am not a happy camper, can't get through to technical assistance just put in the cue, I gather its a long one.

Re: NAB online trading

I'm having some problems with Sanford too (sanford provide the trading service for NAB). Sometimes this happens when the system is under stress, but usually doesn't last more than 20 mins or so. Better than ETrade and Commsec by the sounds of some of the posts I've seen relating to those providers....

Is it just me or has NOLT been down all day?

Can someone confirm if it is working for them.

Cheers,

It has been down for over an hour. Was ok at opening today but not sure exactly when the problems started. At one stage there was a message explaining 'log on' problems but this too has now vanished.

I get in, it gets stuck. Then I cant log out. At the moment it is working though! There is a message saying they are having issues, and that their help line is engaged.

I can't see why they can't at least give a warning on the Logon screen that problems are happening. That way one won't continue trying to logon thinking it my be the ADSL connection etc..

cheers,
