Kazakhstan

Re: Kazakistan

Sad to hear you will be away so long GG, but will we still hear from you from time-to-time?

Also, I hear they come down pretty hard on those caught pilfering bar mats in the tourist strips of Kazakhstan. If you see any Aussies attempting to do so, would you have a quiet word before it all gets out of hand?

I'll try to keep in touch and thanks for the warning.

I'm very old fashioned, when I'm in a pub I just drink, and when I'm in a whor......... I won't finish that as I don't want to lose any more points.

I have a stopover in Singapore and in Bangkok but will be just at the transit area, so I should be ok.

If I see any ozzie bogans playing up I'll be sure to dob them in so that I can show my good self in my mankini on Channel 9 and maybe even get in to New Idea.... "That fat wog said etc.etc."

Re: Kazakistan

Well, you've probably googled the key info by now. Have not been to Kazakhstan, but have been to other ex Soviet States including Russia a while back. Don't know how connected your friend is there, but it helps to have a local (e.g. a smart student) by your side if you're planning to travel around.

Thanks rub, I've googled a fair bit.

My mate may or may not still be well connected and that is without going into too much detail , why I'm going there.

He was able to arrange a visa for me overnight, so he still has friends.

He's a good bloke, plays soccer with a local team and has a Kazack girlfriend. Its just so damn difficult doing business in the ex soviet republics.

Thanks for the advice.

Re: Kazakistan

If your going to check out the Soyuz program make sure you take roubles. The base is leased to Russia.

Re: Kazakistan

Thanks mate,

Most of the airlines that travel there leave you with only the option of Turkish Airlines or Air Astana for the final sector.

I'd prefer if it wasn't my final sector.

Does anyone have any info on those airlines THY or KC's ability to

Take off safely
Fly safely
Land on the runway safely.

Many thanks

Re: Kazakistan

Didnt MHL have Oil Projects there?

MHL have their projects in the KYRGYZ republic ,south of KAZAKSTAN.
maybe GG would be kind enough to borrow someones Trabant sedan
and cross the border to see if MONITOR ENERGY is working hard to increase their SP above .002 cents.

Re: Kazakistan

Its been all sorted in no time at all.

Almaty is a great place for business.

I'd encourage any young Aussies reading this to consider emigrating there.

A good oil and mineral place with activity +++

Generous fun loving people who appreciate their vodka and a truly free market atmosphere.

Cohibas and Partagas aplenty and beautiful women.

I must return some day to Almaty

Isn't English such a lovely language and you use it so much more creatively and less concretely than many on the forum.

Cemented.

I think they said something like that to my mate in Russian last I saw of them.

Re: Kazakistan

GG I would keep away from A330 Airbus and fly Turkish ..change your name to end in Stan and give us a report when you get back. Hope you are not affected by Chook or goats odours as they could be in a seat near you..Take out a large life insurance and make it payable to Rudd and co as they need the loot. Over seas travel is always interesting an I reckon every Aussie once they turn 18 should be make to go to some O/sea's place to realise what is in store for us. Check up on your needles and need to Visa's..Buy a butt plug as well.

Re: Kazakistan

gg....how many broken hearts did you leave behind?

Halliburton is in there big time developing oil & gas, any tips?

gg, I for one, don't know anything much about Kazakstan. Could you pen a sort of mini travelogue about the place?

Yes GG was it like the movie Borat, was the mankini the predominant fashion?

I travel again to Almaty to seek another fortune, leaving Townsville quite soon.

I will call in to CVN's rigs in Thailand on the way, or on the way back, and report back to the funnymentalists on the CVN thread as to what is not happening.

I have booked from Bangkok to Almaty, but may instead go to Saigon first as the Thais sound as if they are arguing over shirts again.

From Saigon I can get to Moscow and then back to Almaty. I can then avoid Thailand if the ole King of Thailand kicks the bucket and they start seriously hating each other in Bangkok this weekend.

Why cannot people be nice to each other.

Do please, those of you still in the market consider going to cash, as I fear the second leg of the double dip is on the cards on the charts.

From the Funnymental view, the Greeks have not been the same since they condemned Aristotle to death. They are unable to take criticism and the rest of the PIGS in the Eurozone will follow.
