The Media

I thought it was funny when Scomo was canned for taking on more responsibility, when the country was shut down, yet the media went to town.
They also paid out when he said firefighting wasn't his brief.

When will you give up on your love child Scomo :)

Morrison secretly undermined his own ministers / cabinet being sworn in for their portfolios totally outside of the Westminster System.

His default behavior of secrecy extended to flying off for a holiday and rumoured church opening then taking 4 days to rush back again.

Not even Scomo could spin that one away.

Albanese hasn't even come close to that sort of character however he is boring to listen to and lakes spin and catchy phrases to keep the bored conservatives entertained like the foreign owned News Corp does so well.

Likely the biggest crime Albanese will commit is getting Dutton elected and if that happens he should be burnt at the stake.

Dutton I rate far worse than that idot (still is) Abbott who was a total waste of taxpayers money.

Probably when you give up your love child Albo or anyone Labor.

It is looking more and more shaky for Labor getting a second term, Scomo is starting to look like a mesiah compared to the current inept lot.

At least he got AUKUS up, the nuclear submarines organised and the diesel ones canned, handled covid and bounced the ASX back, doubled the welfare payments, started Kurri Kurri and Snowy.

After one term Albo's looking like all he will achieve is buying a new house. Lol

I agree with you on Dutton, he isn't my cup of tea, neither was Turnbull, but everyone to there own.
I would rather see someone at the front leading and having a go, rather than just polishing seats and doing sod all.
Hopefully Albo gets another term, it will be interesting watching the Eastern States renewables unfold.

Nothing to do with Morrison but the nuclear subs do worry me if they will ever happen and if so will they be white elephants (outdated ) given the lead time.

The diesel ones were outdated as soon as global warming had to be addressed, the diesel ones weren't being delivered until the mid 2030's, they wouldn't have been a good look, high polluting WW2 style subs. Lol

Staff fury as billionaire newspaper owners refuse to endorse presidential candidate

The headline says it all and I see it as another data point that suggests the overall paradigm we've been living under the past few decades is shifting. In this case, the media seems to be realising it needs to go back to reporting the news, not manufacturing or determining it, if it's to have a future.

Data points that are trivial in themselves but get enough of them, and there's rather a lot around in recent times, and they add up to a conclusion that we're living through a significant turning point.

Bezos doesn't want his government funded space program scuttled under Trump. He's worried about Trump payback.

Elon has positioned himself pretty heavily and will pay for it if democrats win. But he might beat out Bezos a little more under Trump. Elon already experienced it in California.

I don't think Bezos and Elon have ever met in person yet. I know Bezos fought to get into the space funding due to his Democrat friendly position. The division is stupid

Point is though, it's the right decision regardless of the reason.

If media's to be credible then it shouldn't be taking sides period. The job is to report the news objectively, that's all, and it's the failure to do so that's killing traditional media.

Same happens in Australia. Our media, all of it, would gain a lot more respect and support if it didn't take sides. :2twocents

I think it's opening up again to go against the "woke left". There's a lot more push back. I don't think it's being done for the right reasons though.

Is this journalism or propaganda ?

This is where it gets difficult and requires further analysis.

If it's a factual story reporting what occurred or is proposed, who said what, etc, then that of itself is journalism.

But then we need to consider context:

How in depth is the reporting compared to comparable issues?

Where is this story placed relative to where a similar story about a non-LGBTQIA specific event would be placed?

How long will this story appear relative to other stories? Eg it could be maintained it in a prominent position for an extended period, or it could be put up then allowed to drop down the list naturally as other stories are added, or it could be placed well down the list to start with then falls further from there.

Is there any relevant information that's been omitted, the lack of which alters a reasonable person's understanding of the issue compared to if that information had been included?

Etc.

The biggest lie told by the media isn't anything specific but rather, it's the idea that passing a "fact check" proves the reporting isn't biased. :2twocents

Well, most of the article seems to be given to echoing the voices of the Lgbti community, who would be a small group of people compared to the wider community who would appreciate funding for sports facilities say, which the lgbti's would also be able to partake in.

That, plus the mention of a special service for one group (ABCQueer) starts getting into the realm of advocacy rather than reporting. I don't see the ABC running similar pages for soccer mums and dads as an example.

Relevant info ommitted? Where is the funding going that was being given to a special group? Maybe it would have been relevant to interview the new recipients and see how they felt to have more money coming their way.

It astonishing South Koreas prez just declared martial law - then reversed martial law - and the media is just reporting it like an actual news event. There's no comparison to Hitler there's no talk of lunacy nothing about corruption, no political opinion from the writer. There is just factual reporting.

Could anyone imagine what would occur if Trump put martial law into place? Or if any Western country run by "whites" put martial law into place? As soon as the skin colour is not white the reporting becomes far more responsible objective and fact-based.

Was Hitler Asian?

OK try this "Crazy Rich Asians go crazy because they are lunatic Asians, corrupt and declare martial law"

Doesn't really work or at least I would never get a job at the foreign owned News Corp.

If you read the ABC they actually mention most of what you said complete with context :) Hope this helps.

What a profoundly irrelevant take. What does Hitler have to do by with it.
